Intervention triggers again after taking a screenshot on iOS 26

Edited

If you’ve noticed that the intervention re-triggers when you take a screenshot and then return to your app — you’re not alone.

Starting with iOS 26, Apple changed how screenshots work: the new full-screen screenshot editor launches as a separate process, temporarily sending your current app into the background.

When you close the editor and return, iOS treats it as a new app opening — and one sec will intervene accordingly.

But we got you covered with two different solutions:

Turn off Full-Screen Screenshot Previews

You can switch back to the old behavior (from iOS 18 and earlier), where screenshots don’t take over your whole screen.

Here’s how:

1. Go to Settings → General → Screen Capture

2. Turn off Full-Screen Screenshot Editor

This prevents iOS from sending your app into the background — and keeps one sec from triggering again.

Set Up Intentional App Switching

If you like the new screenshot preview, you can still prevent unwanted triggers by enabling Intentional App Switching in one sec.

This ensures one sec only activates when you consciously switch apps — not during quick back-and-forth actions like screenshot editing.

Our recommendation

We suggest using both:

• Disable the full-screen screenshot preview and/or

• Enable intentional app switching

We truly always recommend to set up Intentional App Switching, so one sec won’t get too annoying if you need to switch quickly between your apps.

This gives you a smoother experience — and keeps one sec working as intended, even with Apple’s latest screenshot changes.
