Can I use one sec without the Accessibility Permission?

Edited

Yes you can:

We have experimented a lot, and we believe the accessibility service provides the best user experience to offer one sec’s functionality on Android:

  • Service runs more stable and consistently, not killed by the system

  • Much faster response time

  • Receiving passive events instead of actively polling activity data

While we are not interested in collecting any of your data (we make money by selling the subscription), we acknowledge that some users don’t want to grant the accessibility permission nevertheless.

That’s why we decided to allow users to use one sec without the accessibility service – with our old legacy approach using the app usage permission. It has some downsides (see above), but it’s better than not being able to use one sec at all.

To set up one sec without the accessibility service, tap on “Learn more” on the permission request screen and “ignore accessibility service”. You will then be prompted to set up the app usage permission instead.
