Why do I need to connect target apps to Screen Time?
During the setup flow of certain features of one sec, you are prompted to connect the target app (e.g. Instagram) with their counter part of Screen Time:
Here’s the technical reason why that’s necessary:
In order to be able to react to open events of target apps, one sec relies on so-called Shortcuts Automations:
They send signals to one sec for when you open or close a target app. This allows one sec to inject the breathing exercise (or other intervention types) in the moment you’re opening a distracting app – and thus giving you the chance to think again if you really want to use that app right now.
For additional features, such as Re-Interventions, Delayed Interventions, or Blocks, one sec uses Apple’s Screen Time technology to completely shield apps, e.g. after reaching your Re-Intervention time limit.
To enable these features you need to connect target apps with their Screen Time counterpart.
